Burns and Roe is established as an industry leader and innovator in designing coal fired power plants. Since its inception in 1932, Burns and Roe has been known for its accomplishments in the engineering, design and construction of coal fired generating stations.  Our early designs were small units with less than 100 MW capacity. In later years, central stations were designed and built which had over 400 MW multiple unit generating capacities.  Burns and Roe’s coal-fired project portfolio represents 70 stations totaling more than 20,000 MW.  Such additional activities include site selection studies, environmental impact studies, operations and maintenance service plans, flue gas abatement programs, and environmental and licensing support services.  Burns and Roe current and most recent experience includes projects in the United States and Asia.  This experience has kept Burns and Roe up to date with the latest coal-burning technology, air pollution control equipment and balance of plant equipment. Further, our recent experience has kept us current on procurement sourcing, construction management techniques and coal station design standards. Most notably, Burns and Roe is continually working with its customers to improve environmental performance of their coal fired generating facilities and its role in clean-energy development to safeguard our natural resources for future generations.
