| The U.S. Navy has awarded BRDC, a Joint Venture of Burns and Roe Services Corporation and Dick Corporation, a Job Order Contract to provide construction, addition, renovations, alterations and repairs to various types of facilities and buildings and to provide minor construction and marine work at the U.S. Naval Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The expected contract completion date is May 2013.
This is a follow-on contract to the Job Order Contract that BRDC currently has in Guantanamo Bay. The contract is for a base year and four option years for a maximum of sixty months or a maximum value of $50,000,000.00 for the life of the contract, whichever comes first. Task orders will be for general building projects (new construction and renovation).
This contract award represents the most recent event in Burns and Roe’s long history of service at the Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay. Burns and Roe involvement at the Naval Base began in 1964, when the Cuban Government cut the water supply to the 10,000 Navy and civilian personnel stationed at the base. Burns and Roe responded to that emergency by building a plant that successfully produced fresh water at the rate of one million gallons per day within a five-month period. We continue to serve the Navy through the operations and maintenance of most of the facilities throughout the base.
“The BRDC team will continue to support the Navy through our enhanced capabilities ,” stated Dave Pruett, Senior Vice President of Burns and Roe Services Corporation. “Our dedicated efforts to provide superior service and to continually improve our operations, maintenance and construction performance ensure best value results for our clients.”
